What Customers Say About Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08:

The game got to me very quickly and in great condition. This has been a great game. Im glad I purchased it.

5 stars for how much I like the play but 3 overall because of all the bugs. Not true with PGA Tour 08, unfortunately. My question is, does anyone know if EA has fixed all these bugs and made any additional improvements to the 09 and forthcoming 2010 version. You'll lose anywhere from a calendar day up to a couple of weeks of play within the game, which translates to several hours of play on the console. The real rub is that, unlike other games such as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, you can only save one profile in this game instead of multiple profiles of varying progress throughout the year (as far as I can tell). If so, I would definitely upgrade, ESPECIALLY if there were a way to import your existing player into the newer version. The only workaround I've found is to never exit the game and always stay in Tour mode. Also, distances on the clubs in the "In The Bag" section would be nice too.One other minor error I've had is that PING 'aint making good on my sponsorship money. This is now the third time it's happened to me.

So, I boosted this game from my son about a month ago because he never plays it, and I have had the exact same errors as a couple of the other reviewers, specifically when you're in Tour mode and getting late into the season. I want my thirty large, plus interest.I haven't gotten to the upside-down underwater shot someone else mentioned yet, but it damn well better be after I've finished up this season or this UMD is going straight to the resale bin. I was pimping their irons & visor cap for a few tourneys and didn't get paid, so I'm back to the Odyssey & MacGregor stuff. But, as the other review stated, most of the mental games are real garbage and the confidence meter is a complete joke. And as I mentioned previously, even though you've may have saved recently, the game will still randomly overwrite your current profile data from the past.Another thing that's frustrating is that when you unlock new items at the Pro Shop, many times you have to review each section at length to see what's available to you, which is time consuming as all get out. It would be much better to have the ability to go directly to just the new items after each round and also to see a side by side comparison of these options vs. For me, no matter how many times I've save the profile, it will randomly revert back to some point in the past well prior to the the point in time saved. There's nothing more deflating than pounding the field at Barclays and Deutsche Bank, shooting back to back 58s at the BMW, then going into Sunday leading by 8 at the Tour Championship, only to fire up the game again to find out you have to play those courses and the mini games all over. What is otherwise a VERY fun & entertaining game quickly turns into a giant frustration, especially when it comes to the loss of your FedEx points and money / skill / prestige / equipment.

At least in those a freeze can usually be resolved by opening the UMD case and closing it again. It's almost like the game gets mad at you for kicking its arse and this is the only way it knows how to retaliate. That said, having been a Links for Mac loyalist a number of years ago, I do really like the game play because it's so similar. If you're winning tournaments, it really doesn't matter because you'll have more money than you'll spend, but still. I never cracked the manual, but the controls are pretty intuitive from the first tee. Finally, I'd like to see the % of Skill attainment for each attribute listed in the Skills section so that you know what you need to focus your resources on; the only way to do that in this version is to go out to the main menu and look at the golfer profile.

I've got Madden 07 and 08 and never had any big issues like this. Bling bling. I've never played the earlier versions, but EA should be ashamed of this release. The first time it happened I thought it was something I had done wrong, but after googling the issue I see that numerous others have had the same problem. The spin control on the ball is a nice added touch, and it's GREAT to play Pebble Beach again.

Again, very, very time consuming. However, when (not if) you do freeze and have to restart, guess what. your current equipment.

As in dozens and dozens and dozens of times. You can save in the middle of an event or tournament. It's not. There is a second bug, and it's a whopper. Try out Tiger Woods for the DS (no glitches there) or a different console, but definitely do not buy Tiger Woods PGA Tour '08 for the PSP. As in delete your character and start from scratch.

Some instances are: on your second stroke on the 18th hole, when you go to the pro shop after stomping your opponents, even right when you are about to save your progress. The first time I hit my first big freeze, I lost about five or ten hours of game play. So, you have to save every time you complete an event, something which takes a few minutes to do and is extremely annoying. But that's not even the bad part. I cannot believe how many of these literally impossible holes slipped past the makers of this game. Now, you can skip an entire event (which you have to do when you come across these incompetently designed holes), but what do you do if you have already saved mid-match (just in case it freezes and you don't want to start all over again) and now are caught in a paradox of having your player automatically loaded to a round of golf that cannot be won. Why is this such a big deal. The bugs are not limited to freezing. If you get to that hole, you are screwed.

There's not. (Unless you're an utter masochist). Very inconvenient. You have to go into four sub-menus to find the save option. That's right. This is a simple review.

THERE ARE SOME HOLES THAT ARE SO POORLY DESIGNED THAT THEY ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPLETE. If you don't save mid-match every so often, you run the risk of having to play the 18 holes over again, which can be endlessly frustrating. There are two types of serious bugs in TW '08 for PSP. This is because I assumed there was an auto save feature. It focuses solely on the negatives because they are so powerful, that no matter how good the positives are, they are completely eclipsed by the bad.The game play is fun, the graphics are good but nothing special, and there are lot of courses, mini-games and interesting details and physics. So why such a low review.

You'll have to start all over again. A lot. A lot of the time the game simply freezes for no apparent reason at random times. No matter what you do, you cannot hit the ball any distance or in any direction. For just one example, there is one hole in which you must take your first shot from under water, with the horizon upside down.

The bugs in the game make it a miserable experience. It's absolutely terrible game-making. Plus, it feels like cheating; I mean if you're going to have to save every four holes or so, are you really going to take that triple bogey. Now here's the third and truly horrifying part. (Not only that, but like the above reviewer wrote, there appears to be a massive glitch in the game in which you simply cannot advance any further at some particular point. Game over, man. I'm not there yet, but I doubt I'll have the patience to get that far in this poor excuse for a game). In sum: do no buy this game. Then you have to reload the event, taking away another couple minutes of your life that should be used for actual play time.

If you do save every so often mid-match, you run the risk of permanently locking up your character into an endless loop, and you will have to start the entire game all over again. Seems convenient. There is no excuse. So, in other words, playing Tiger Woods 2008 for the PSP is a worthless crap shoot and a terrible effort by EA. First, because the bugs are rampant and unpredictable. The first bug is that the game freezes. Game over. You have to save and quit out of the event. In short, you have to repeat a lot of courses and events, which just becomes boring and mundane (and of course infuriating if you've just gotten a hole in one and back to back eagles). The second reason is that the saving system does not help prevent you from avoiding the regular freezing glitches.

Here's where it gets rough.

Tiger Woods is one of my favorite games every year it comes out. This game provides endless hours of gameplay, some very challenging, and others fun and relaxing.

Their tech support lines have not been able to assist. After developing his player and amassing wealth and luxuries he gets to a certain point late in the game and can not go any further. I purchased this game as a Christmas gift for my husband to replace a faulty game he already had. It turns out it is a glitch in the game itself.
